Man Crush of the Week

Kurt Cobain is still lingering hard but John Stamos has popped up for reasons I can't remember.
He's insanely charismatic and has a beautiful smile.
Darn the beautiful men...

Look of the Day

Gemma Arterton's casual street look.
Love it to the max.
I know it's a photo from last summer & it's currently freezing outside but watching Prince of Persia led me to revisit Gemma Arterton.

Retail Therapy

This man, a Mr. Gianni Botsford, has my dream bookcase. Huge, next to an equally huge window and ladders, and old-school.

Ever since Beauty & the Beast it's been my dream to have such an astounding room as in the library scene.

Dare to Dream.

Why hello there

entire collection from the Chanel Pre-Fall 2011 show.
I shall covet thee.
Hard.

Praise Be

to Louis Vuitton, words that are rarely uttered from my mouth but when my prayers for face masks to become fashionable come true, dues must be paid.

Film of the Day

The Girl Who Played with Fire

It's not as good as the first one, and I felt it was a bit silly & implausible at times, but it's still a very good thriller, which kept me gripped right from the start and was a nice break from the trashy American comedies I've unexplainably(?) started watching.
Note to self: Persevere & stop opting for quick & cheap.
Almost always leads to disappointment.

Awards Extravaganza

BAFTAS

Normally I'm not a big fan of the Baftas for reasons I'm not sure why. I guess anything compared to the US awards seem budget.
But hats off to them this year for some fantastic and surprising nominations.
True Grit gets a fair few nods from BAFTA, which seems to have been avoided by the US counterparts.
Reluctantly, The Social Network has been nominated for Best Picture, Screenplay & Director, for which, I assume, it will win all three.
Happily, though, it did not even score a Best Original Score nom, which was distinctly average, so solace can be taken in that.
Noomi Rapace, star of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has deservedly received a nomination for Best Actress, as has a favourite of mine, Annette Bening for for The Kids Are All Right.
Disappointing that Melissa Leo didn't get a nod for Best Supporting Actress for The Fighter, as she was fantastic to watch, but an exciting line-up nonetheless.

Tingling Thursdays

this is the end

Why hello there

90s minimalism as dictated by Calvin Klein.
I shall covet thee & the impossible figure to pass off such simplistic wonders.

Film of the Day: Thriller

Inception
I've been slowly getting on the ball of recent film releases, having managed to catch most of the big films of 2010, however perhaps the biggest, Inception, I'd yet to see.
Yesterday, finally, I got round to watching it & I can say with certainty that I wasn't disappointed.
Whilst, like most blockbusters, it has its flaws, it's probably one of the most intelligent of its kind for a long time.
I'm also always slightly biased when it comes to British directors, love Leonardo DiCaprio & <3 Joseph Gordon-Levitt since I first watched him when I was younger in Third Rock from the Sun and 10 Things I Hate About You (also igniting at the same time my love for Heath Ledger, R.I.P.).
The haters will be quick to jump on it, and it's by no means perfect, but in contrast to other big blockbuster films to which I shall name no names (Avatar), it's positively brilliant.
I desperately, desperately hope that a sequel will not follow, otherwise it will undo all the wonderfulness that was created, and will most likely destroy its reputation, much like The Matrix sequels have done to it.
I would strongly recommend watching it though, with others, loud & surround, on some ridic. size screen.

FOOTNOTE: I also LOVE Cillian Murphy. He's a beautiful actor to watch.

TV Show of the Day

Mad Men

I recently had a 'Mad Men' Binge & managed to catch up on all four seasons in just over two weeks & I absolutely love it.
Of course, I am absolutely enamoured with the fashion, the smoking & those awesome lighters that are proving to be hard to come by.
It has also made me a little sad, however, that even though this was a time when women's rights & freedoms were still quite restricted, I respect & admire these women more that most today.
I mean, at least those women had class.
& knew how to keep a secret.
I'm becoming so very bored of the slutty, drugged-up look.
It's been running for years now, surely it's had its time?
Like a lot of people now, I'm looking most forward to the death of the hipster, even since 2008 it had well & truly peaked.
So, for 2011, let's hope for the birth or rebirth of a new/old fad & maybe women will stop

shouting out that their slutty attire & rape me attitude is in the name of feminism .
